UAE Package Forwarding to Africa: How It Works, Costs & Countries We Serve
Everything you need to know about forwarding packages from the UAE to Africa โ how a Dubai address works, what it actually costs after duty and VAT, and which countries are covered.
If you've ever tried to order from a UAE store while living in Kenya, Nigeria, Ethiopia, or elsewhere in Africa, you've probably run into the same wall: the store simply won't deliver outside the UAE. Package forwarding solves that. You get a real UAE address, shop as if you lived in Dubai, and the forwarding service ships your order on to you internationally. This guide covers how the process actually works, what it costs once duty and VAT are factored in, and which African countries are currently served.
What is UAE package forwarding?
Package forwarding gives you a physical receiving address in the UAE โ not a P.O. box, but a real warehouse address with a unique customer or suite number attached to it. You use that address at checkout on any UAE store that ships domestically. The retailer treats it as a normal local delivery. Once your package arrives, the forwarding company logs it, and you decide how it continues its journey to your actual address in Africa.
How it works, step by step
- Get your UAE receiving address. Sign up for a free account and you're issued a personal Dubai address with your own customer number.
- Shop UAE stores normally. Use that address at checkout on any store that can deliver within the UAE โ Amazon.ae, Noon, Zara, SHEIN, and many others that don't ship internationally themselves.
- Your package arrives and is logged. It's received, weighed, and added to your account โ ideally with photo confirmation so you can see exactly what arrived.
- Consolidate if you have more than one package. Multiple orders can often be combined into a single international shipment, which can simplify tracking and reduce duplicated packaging overhead.
- Choose your shipping option and pay. Pricing is based on the shipment's actual weight and size, with a real quote โ not a guess โ for your destination.
- Track it to your door. From dispatch in the UAE through customs clearance to delivery in your country.

Get My UAE Address โWhat it actually costs
The shipping fee itself is only part of the total. The number that matters is the landed cost โ what you actually pay once your package clears customs in Africa. That's made up of four parts:
- Shipping cost โ based on the package's actual or volumetric weight, whichever is higher, on the carrier rate for your specific destination.
- Import duty โ a percentage of the item's declared value, set by your country's customs authority. This varies by product category and by country, and most African destinations do not waive it for low-value parcels the way some regions used to.
- VAT or equivalent sales tax โ charged on top of duty in most destinations, again as a percentage of declared value.
- The forwarding service's own fee โ for receiving, handling, and consolidating your packages.
Because duty and VAT rates differ by country and product type, the only reliable way to know your real total before you buy is to run the actual numbers for your destination rather than relying on a rough estimate. CBC's landed cost calculator does exactly that โ it pulls a live shipping quote and applies each destination's published duty and VAT rates so you see shipping, duty, VAT, and the total before you commit to an order.
Countries we serve
CBC currently ships from the UAE to the following African destinations, with express and economy options and full tracking on every shipment:

Delivery times, carrier options, and customs specifics vary by country. See the full breakdown โ rates, transit times, and what to expect at customs โ for your destination on the destinations page.
What you can โ and can't โ ship
Most everyday purchases forward without issue: clothing, shoes, accessories, books, home goods, and general consumer items. Some categories need extra care or face restrictions regardless of which forwarder you use โ electronics with batteries, liquids, and anything on your destination country's restricted-import list. If you're unsure about a specific item, it's worth checking before you buy rather than after it's already sitting in a UAE warehouse.
What to look for in a forwarding service
Not all forwarders operate the same way, and the difference shows up mainly in two places: pricing honesty and visibility. A service that shows you a real landed-cost breakdown before you pay โ rather than a shipping-only number that leaves duty and VAT as a surprise at delivery โ is doing right by you. So is one that photographs your package on arrival, so you know what was received before deciding what happens next.
CBC is operated by Semenawi Trade FZ LLC, a UAE-registered company based in Ras Al Khaimah (Trade License No. 45009832), and provides a free Dubai receiving address, package photos on arrival, consolidation, and a live landed-cost quote for every destination it serves.
Getting started
If you haven't forwarded a package before, the easiest way in is a single order you're already confident about โ see how the warehouse notifies you, how consolidation works if you add a second package, and what the real landed cost looks like for your country before committing to anything larger.
